Struck STR137 - ECL Multi-Event Input Latch

Note: This page is a copy of the original STR137 page posted on the former "Dr. Bernd Struck GmbH" website in June 1998 by Matthias Kirsch (now Struck Innovative Systems (SIS) GmbH). The successor of Struck GmbH is (was) Bastian Technology GmbH&Co. KG which itself filed for bankrupcy in 1999. The STR137 is therefore no longer available or supported.

Short description

The STR137 is a versatile single slot wide FASTBUS ECL input latch. The unit is available with the operating modes coincidence mode (STR137/1) and strobed mode (STR137/2) and comes in a 96 and a 128 channel version. The module is suited as a detector hit pattern latch, general purpose input register, or to capture ECL data streams coming from Le Croy FERA systems or PCOS eg.

All channels can be strobed with a common strobe/gate, or one strobe/gate per 32 channel subgroup, one common reset input is reserved to allow the implementation of a fast clear scheme in future firmware revisions.

The FASTBUS slave interface supports random or block-read and multi-block readout. A multi-event FIFO structure is implemented, a load next event (LNE) function allows to read selected events only. The default FIFO depth is 512 longwords, up to 4K longwords can be installed. The four bit event readout counter can be used to check synchronization between different components in complex readout systems.

The buffer in progress (BIP) output signals a busy input stage or the FIFO being almost full, and hence can be used to prevent an overrun of the unit.
