This photo shows one of the four HV mainframe units (one per quadrant) used for the SuperK outer detector to deliver the high supply voltages to the PMTs, ranging from 1.5kV to approx. 2.5kV. It is the blue 19" unit mounted in the electronics rack between two special crates holding the paddle cards. Each HV mainframe selectivly controls 40 individual HV output channels, one per paddle card which itself distributes the voltage to up to 12 PMTs each. Thus, up to 480 PMTs are supplied with HV per unit.
