General Information The 18th International Conference on Neutrino Physics and Astrophysics will be held in Takayama, Gifu Prefecture, Japan, from Thursday 4 June to Tuesday 9 June, 1998. The site of the conference is the Takayama Public Cultural Hall, which is situated in close vicinity of the Takayama railway station. Takayama-city is about 50km south from the Super-Kamiokande site. Information about the conference and general information about Takayama and Japan is available on the WWW Neutrino 98 home page http://www-sk.icrr.u-tokyo.ac.jp/nu98/ and http://www.hida.co.jp/takayama/ . As usual in the series of the Neutrino conferences, participation is by invitation only. Invitations will be sent to participants with bulletin 2. The conference is organized by Kamioka Observatory, Institute for Cosmic Ray Research, University of Tokyo, and supported by the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (C4) and the Japan National Committee for Physics, Science Council of Japan. 2. Scientific Programme The program will consist of plenary talks only. Topics to be covered by the conference are : ・Solar neutrinos, ・Atmospheric neutrinos, ・Accelerator and reactor neutrino oscillation experiments, ・Neutrino oscillation phenomenology, ・Neutrino mass, ・Double beta decay and Dark matter, ・Neutrino astronomy, ・Cosmology. A preliminary schedule of the programme follows. A more detailed program will appear in Bulletin 2. June 4 (morning) Solar neutrino experiments (afternoon) Future solar neutrino experiments, Solar models, Helioseismology June 5 (morning) Atmospheric neutrinos (afternoon) Reactor experiments, Accelerator long baseline experiments June 6 (morning) Short baseline experiments, Accelerator neutrino experiments (afternoon) Neutrino mass and oscillations (Theory) June 7 Whole day excursion June 8 (morning) Double beta decay, Neutrino mass experiments (afternoon) Dark matter search, Cosmological and astrophysical neutrinos (evening) Poster session June 9 (morning) Ultra-high energy neutrinos (afternoon) Future and summary 3. Contribution papers The participants are encouraged to present contributions in the areas related to the topics covered by the conference. The papers will be listed and displayed during the conference. Three copies must be sent to the following address. Prof. Masayuki Nakahata Kamioka Observatory, ICRR, Univ. of Tokyo Higashi-Mozumi, Kamioka-cho, Gifu 506-1205, Japan tel: +81-578-5-9603 fax:+81-578-5-2121 e-mail: nakahata@icrr.u-tokyo.ac.jp 4. Poster session A poster session is scheduled during the conference. A room in the conference hall will be allocated for presenting posters. Application forms for poster session will be included in Bulletin 2. 5. Proceedings The proceedings will include, in principle, all presentations given by the invited speakers. A copy of the proceedings will be mailed to each registered participant after the conference. 6. Registration The registration form will be included in Bulletin 2. The registration fee for the conference is 33,000 yen per participant before March 1, 1998 and 36,000 yen after March 1, 1998. The registration fee for accompanying persons is 10,000 yen. For the participant, the fee covers the proceedings, conference banquet, welcome receptions, coffee and tea service at session breaks, computing facilities, and conference materials.
